At Ruidoso Valley Getaway, you’re not just visiting a place—you’re stepping into an active, living property.

The Pack (Working Austrailian Kelpie mix Dogs)

Our dogs are pets and have jobs—they are trained working animals that protect the property, livestock, the host and guests.

They are:

Always present on the property Alert, territorial, and doing their job. Friendly to humans and think guests are here to visit them. 

Important:
For safety reasons, no outside animals are allowed on the property. This includes pets, emotional support animals, and visiting animals of any kind. The pack will take them as intruders and harm could happen.

This is a firm rule.

If you have a problem with dogs, you may need to pass on booking here. They are trained to leave you alone for attention if you simply scorn them to go away, otherwise they will check on you, and/or sleep on your porch at night.

The Flock (Chickens)

Our free-range chickens are part of the ecosystem here.

They provide:

Fresh eggs Natural insect control Occasional entertainment

You may see them roaming the property during the day. Please do not chase, feed, or disturb them by chasing them. They are very tame and will sit in your lap, if you ever chase them, they will always run from you, afterall, they are chickens.

  The host will let children or adults experience gathering eggs if requested to the host.

If you have a problem with chickens, or allergies to chickens, you may need to pass on booking here as they are very active on property, except the Hippie HiltInn. 

What This Means for You

This is a rural, working property—not a suburban backyard.
